BUILD COMMENTS FROM ADAM:
This is the Jeep YJ short wheel base I’ve been building. It started as a RC4WD Bruiseruptor frame with leaf springs and Yota axles, perfect frame in my opinion for the YJ build since the rear of the frame is much wider and more to scale than most on the market. I first started by installing a Trail Finder 2 drive line with simple skid plate to line it all up. The tricky part was reversing the front leaf setup to allow the shackles to be in front like a real YJ, while still allowing for the right servo location as well as allowing for a front bumper. I started building this frame based on dimensions I had for the body way before I even received it! Got the wheel base squared away, mocked up a fairly simple interior (hoping it would fit the body). Got a “fuel tank” mounted in the right location as the 1:1, even made the perfect location to stick the ESC. Once the body arrived I was amazed that everything fit almost perfectly! Plenty of room for the interior, battery and electronics with room to spare even! For the body I went with a simple white, black and tab scheme, more of a modified daily driver look. Still some detailing left to do on the truck, but I’m very happy with it overall. Even seems to perform very closely to what a real 1:1 YJ would. This has been a fun build, and building a SWB truck really has been a fun challenge!
