FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY BRIAN KROELLS
By Thunder what day is it…. OH Yeah, it’s the magical day called FRIDAY!!!!! We have an outstanding build and organization to showcase and kick off your Friday off right.
This is a dual submission from the good guys over at SoCal RC Rally Runners = Tim Tester & Brian Kroells:
This Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 Porsche rally build is owned and operated by fellow SoCal RC Rally runner, Brian Kroells. Brian took a stock brushless version RTR Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 and transformed it into this amazing looking and awesome performing dirt rally runner! Brian started this rally conversion by cutting small sections on the bottom of the chassis to allow the suspension arm to drop more allowing more ground clearance. See the two attached pics of this simple 5 minute chassis mod. Next, Brian lengthened the stock shocks by replacing the plastic lower shock mounts with longer ones he found in his spare parts box. Another option would be to install longer shocks. After lengthening the stockers the car was put back together and a Tamiya 1/10 scale Porsche body, with a Tamiya rally cockpit set, was mounted and painted. The final touch was mounting Tamiya rally block tires on off brand wheels. Since the front track width is wider than the rear, you will need either wider offset wheels in the rear or a spacer if running front and rear wheels with the same offset. A very simple and inexpensive modification to a great on-road RTR car to convert it for off-road rally running.
A big shout out to the SoCal RC Rally Runners, NorCal RC Rally, The RC Rally Club, Rally X R/C USA, the VCRC and Renegade Rock Runners crawler groups, and to all of the local hobby shops, R/C tracks, and hobby companies for supporting the SoCal RC Rally Runners including TQ RC Racing, Tamiya America Raceway, Revelation Raceway, Cal Raceway, Marty’s Hobbies, Pro-Line, DDG, Cow RC, Delta Plastik, and anyone else I may have forgotten to mention.
