FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY CHARLIE NELSON
Charlie’s build info;
It started out life as a Trx4 Bronco, and that didn’t last long. I fitted a Tamiya bullhead body to the chassis. If you look closely, I used the fenders from the Bronco and cut them down and utilized them for mounting the body. I used lacquer thinner to dull most of the chrome for that faded look. The bumper I made myself out of 1/8″ stainless steel, then polished it up nice. Made the LCG battery tray out of light gauge steel. I used some bolt on stuff as well; A big shout to intheworks RC for their high clearance skid/forward motor mount and high clearance links 12.5″ wheelbase, LOCKED UP RC’s black steel steering knuckles, C-hubs, and Diff spool, Traxxas OD/UD gears, Pitbull Rock Beast XL stretched on 2.2’s for the scale semi look, HobbyWing axe 1800kv w/ 13t pinion, 25kg servo ran by a Flysky gt5.
I recently went to Blue Rocks Family Campground for the Pit Bull RC Super Series Mega-Cup Intergalactic Nationals of the Universe and the Recon G6. I ran the fix Enduro 3-hour challenge with the Kenworth. It was a brutal .9-mile course uphill through creeks, and rock gardens that would challenge even the most experienced crawlers. I managed to finish 6th place, but had I not broken a pin in the transmission I would have been closer to a podium finish. I fixed the truck and still managed to finish competing in 5 or 6 laps.
