FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY DANIEL SAUTER
Daniel’s build info:
I am Daniel Sauter of DS Custom RC, and this is my Chevy Bel Air. It all started when my buddy found a Chevy Bel Air body from Parma. Since it hasn’t been produced for some time and is hard to get, I thought it would be a great project. So I started drawing, first on paper and then on the PC. The base plate is cut out of 3mm thick aircraft carbon with the CNC machine. Then came the front and rear axle, this is from an Xray X10. All other attachments (fender, center console, seats and dashboard) were made in my 3d printer (ABS ). Some parts are still handmade like the Wheelie bar (hard soldered), the brake chute made of fabric and the roll cage made of polystyrene rods. The rims are from RC4WD, for the rear tyres I took a foam rubber tube and cut / sanded it to fit. The front tyres are again from the printer (rubber sinter print). The engine dummy (LS3) is also from the printer (laser sintering). The intake flaps open and the belt rotates speed dependent. The Bel Air is driven by a completely overpowered pack, consisting of Torro regulator and Sky RC motor. Naturally sensor controlled. The steering is done with a Savox Servo.
