FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY ÉTIENNE NAPPERT
Étienne’s build info;
This build started when I wanted to find a new way to mount the body that was a little outside the norm. Talking about the build with a good friend reminded him that he in fact had a spare chassis that would go perfectly with my build. The choice of axles was quite simple: PORTALS! The decision was made to go with portals from a TRX4 for their undeniable advantages and their reliability. The build itself went well, even the dreaded waiting for parts was not to bad once I could see the finished product. One thing I was worried about was the Panhard Bar and as luck would have it, I was able to source a Low Profile Panhard Bar Mount from Shapeways = Problem Solved!
Tires are a particularly important part of any crawler, so I took a slightly different path by going with the RC4WD Attitude 1.9. These tires are rarely seen out on the trails but let me tell you, what a great tire! In line with heading in a path outside of normal choices as far as Electronics go, I had been wanting to try an Outrunner for some time now so why not? During my research I found the YJ from 3BROS and I can confirm that I am not disappointed at all it is oh so smooth and very precise.
Also, I was incredibly happy to encourage real artisans who contributed in making this build something unique. Brian Paddock for rock sliders and body mounts. Sylvain Levesque for the front bumper and CBERCFAB for the amazing beadlocks!
