FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY MAT HARRIS
Mat’s build info:
I sat down with my buddy Graeme Herman and came up with some rough features that I wanted to include on the model to make it as close to the prototype as possible. Graeme took our notes and over a couple months had designed and started 3d printing the parts. The truck is a Russian built Kamaz T4 class Dakar race truck. I then used styrene and some Axial detail parts to build some of the remaining details. I fabricated the bush guards and side mirror frames from 1/8″ and 3/16″ cold rolled steel. The chassis is an Axial raw builders kit, stretched to 13.5 wheelbase. Powered by a 27t HH trailmaster sport and a Hobbywing 1080 ESC and a 4ch Spektrum rx. Gmade steel wheels, RC4WD 1.9 mil-spec tires. SSD scale hubs. RC4WD 90mm Bilstein shocks. I modified a Wraith anti sway bar setup and installed it in the rear of the truck to keep the top heavy beast on its wheels. The truck weighs in at just over 12lbs. The custom decals are by Cryptic RC. I loved building it, took me about 6 months, and it’s definitely a challenge to drive, but it’s a blast. I will probably build another one this winter.
