FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY NATE FORSHEY

The fleeting Friday’s of summer have brought us Nate and his labor of love build..
NATE’S BUILD INFO:
“While searching YouTube for Jesse Jones/Fox Shocks Mint 400 footage, I stumbled across these great 1/10 scale trophy truck videos by user “Cyconxc”.  The cinematography, the scale details, the suspension plushness; it was amazing and I had to build one.  Being a first build and having very little resources for fabrication, I opted for a RTR Losi Baja Rey; but that wasn’t going to stop me from making it my own first and foremost, it needed new shoes.  After a couple different alterations, Axial Method 105 shod with Axial BFG KR2’s struck a balance between scale and fit. Using Vanquish SLW 225 hubs, the axials allow for full travel all while keeping the stock disc rotors and calipers in place; a nice detail. While on the Vanquish site, a pair of stainless upper links made their way into the cart as well.  The lower links, upper track rod axle mount, upper & lower bulkhead mounts, and front shock mount are all Losi aluminum options.  The finishing touch of aluminum comes in the way of lower A-arms from Metal Concepts.  Suspension duties are handled by Pro-Line Powerstrokes up front and Powerstroke XTs out back, using a combination of Pro-Line springs and RPM dual stage pistons.  The electronics and drivetrain remain stock for the time being or until bashing gets the best of them.  The body is a custom painted Losi Baja Rey replacement with decals from MCI-Racing. Not having scale aftermarket bodies available, I added a dual spares, faux shock reservoir, Associated window nets, Yeah Racing extinguishers, spare drive shaft, “Lowrance” GPS dome, custom-made dry break, and desert lights for scale points. The grille and rear light bars come from Gearhead RC while the front lightbar is a Pro-Line 6″ curved model.  The Baja Rey has been a great first build and provided a ton of bashing fun.  Now it’s time to step up to a custom TT build!”
