FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY NATE TYLER
It may be cold in most parts, but Nate’s build will warm your building imagination and get everyone busy building this weekend.
Nate’s build info:
I made the War Wagon by parting out my SCX 10. I purchased the 1/6 Hasbro Willy’s toy used on EBay for $50. I cut off the unnecessary parts and took to reinforcing the stock frame with epoxy and Aluminum Rod. After carefully removing the hood and grill, I hinged the hood and mounted the SSD Transmission and Transfer case, then cut the Rampage Recovery bumper and scalerfab rock sliders to fit and mounted them up. After mounting the motor/trans I stuffed all the electronics under the hood. The motor sat nice and low in the engine bay so everything fit very well. I used Axial Wraith axles and an SSD rear housing for under pinnings with Gmade wheels and Gearhead RC rings holding TSL SX XL Swampers (It’s what I had laying around…but it works!). After a little trial and error I extended the rear four links (Axial, and Integy,) to get a slightly longer wheelbase …hence the tear-shaped rear wheel cutouts. Lastly, I wanted an “old school” look from the cage so I bent it up and took it to another teacher at my school where I teach and he tacked it together for me. While we were at it, I asked a third teacher to 3 D print me a steering wheel. It proved to be a fun project at school.
