FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY OSCAR RAMIREZ

Oscar’s build info;

 A 4Runner with a Back to the Future vibe. I started this build asking myself, “If Marty McFly needed the room for the kids while still taking trips to the lake, would he own a SR5 4Runner?” This is the thought that allows me to introduce Marty’s 4Runner. To bring modern touches to an already amazing classic. I started with a RC4WD 4Runner body and an Axial Racing SCX10.2 builders kit. After assembling the kit I was quickly challenged on making it fit the chassis among many space limiting challenges that never seem to end. I measured 10 times and slowly trimmed the plastic around the transmission. Allowing it to poke through into the interior. After the fit was spot on, I focused on the interior. Laying down carpet and paint. Meanwhile the rig visited BentMetaL customs to have a rear bumper, skids and body mounting points added. This was a crucial step to ensure the body fitment was on point. I then sent the body to a good friend Paul Pachote to shoot it with a 1985 SR5 code matching gloss black paint job. With paint match matte finish on the removable top. While out for paint, I decided to order an amazon Bluetooth speaker to modify, paint and carpeted to make it look like a JL Audio subwoofer enclosure. The awesome folks at Pushrod3D printed me up a one of a kind JL Audio amplifier to compliment the sub box. With the help of Jovel design werks we added details like the “save the clock tower” flier with Jennifer’s (Marty’s girlfriend) love note on the back. A Hill Valley high school parking permit, a free elect mayor Goldie Wilson flier, the changing future newspaper, a holographic license plate, and of course the all sports Almanac! The icing on the cake was the addition of the hover board in the bed and as well as the RE22 engine made by Knights Customs and detailed by Francisco Hernandez to make it pop. Also added a Falvey Design Worx yellow top battery and MSD ignition box. For lighting I used a Lit LED light kit to make sure it lit up the trails at night. I gave the headlights a euro feel by painting the front lenses with a translucent yellow. As well as smoked the side markers and rear lenses with a transparent tint. The details kept coming as the challenges arose. To make the rear suspension operate I used a Dinky RC Cantilever suspension and added some of RC4WD’s new scale Rancho shocks for the front. I swapped the differential covers with ARB diff covers to make it pop. The wheels are 1.9 RC4WD Enforcer beadlock wheels. Wrapped with 1.7 RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Claws TTC paired With SSD front locker and rear hubs. Under the body we have a Hobbywing AXE FOC 2300kv system with a Reefs RC 422hd servo. All powered by a 1550mah 3s Gens Ace battery. It has been an absolute blast building this one of a kind rig. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did in building it. Thank you for reading.
