FAN FRIDAY FEATURED BUILD BY TOM GALLAGHER

Tom’s build info;

It started out as what is now a discontinued rally car chassis with belt driven AWD. It would have probably been cheaper and less time consuming to buy a RTR crawler, but now who has a trail ready Forester in RC form. The body is from Aplastics and still available as far as I know (this is the second one I bought from them) painted and slightly modified to look more like a base level forester, and not a forester STI as the mold is supposed to be. It has a roof rack with front and rear lights and added accessories. And it has borrowed rock sliders and a front bumper, meant for an Axial SCX10, which have custom brackets and mounts to make them work, as well as modified SCX10 lexan in fender wells. Now back to the build, this Forester is built on a discontinued rally chassis called the Basher Rz4 from the no longer hobby king. As I said this chassis is belt driven as well, and when out mudding the belts snap a lot. Also, the spur and pinion gears always get chewed up. So, this car borrows parts from other similar chassis as well (Xray chassis gears seem to work the best). So, I only see these issues as more of a challenge for the build, which in the end really is one of a kind.
