Welcome to Track Days this week we have the one and the only Mr. Adam Drake. We hope you enjoy a sneak peak into a household name, and discovering a little bit more about one of  the pillars of the RC game.  With all the travelling and long long long days out in the heat in all kinds of track conditions it would be so easy for someone like Adam to not want to be bothered, but he is honestly one the nicest and most approachable GENTLEMEN in the RC World! That speaks volumes to the quality of character Adam reflects in person and his Q&A answers. We love even more that he and his wife Ronda are examples of what a dominating and adorable couple look like.

What was your first RC car?

My first RC car was the Hot Shot.

When was your first official race?

I started racing in 1991.

What is your current favorite car to run/Is there a dream build or dream car to own?

My favorite car is the Mugen Seiki Racing MBX7R nitro buggy.  1/8th nitro is my favorite class.  I don’t really have a dream car to build, but I really enjoy wrenching and preparing my vehicles for events.

What was your first RC experience?

I got into RC to have fun on the afterhours at the motocross track.  We would build dirt jumps and bash until it got too dark to see.  A few years later I attended my first RC club race in Savannah, GA. at S.C.O.R.E.

What has been your most challenging racing experience to date?

Racing in general is challenging, but that’s also what makes it so great.  I would say the most challenging part of racing is how long some of the events are and 16+ hour days at the track.

What’s one NON-RC related hobby or sport that you enjoy?

I follow Supercross and Motocross racing, but in general I like all types of racing.

What are your future goals or hopes for RC?

I plan to continue racing and working in the RC industry for a number of years.  One of my future goals is to give back to the RC community and help it grow.  Racing is awesome, but we really need to focus on giving back and helping it grow.

Current favorite 1:1 car and what would be a dream 1:1 for you?

I’m not too crazy about full sized cars, just something to get you from point A to point B.  I guess my dream car would be something like a McLaren P1 or Porsche 918.

Favorite Food … and what track food sustains you?

Mexican food is my favorite food and adult beverages.

Number One Piece of advice you would give someone wanting to race RC CARS?

Have fun!  That’s why we all got into RC.  It’s easy to loose focus and to race for the wrong reasons.  Do it because you love it!
